THE SPIEGLER FAMILIES
PAST - PRESENT - FUTURE
Milton Martin Spiegler (born 1890) came to Naperville in 1911. He had been working at the Corn Exchange National Bank in Chicago. A partnership was formed between his brother William and brother-in-law Carl Broeker as the Broeker and Spiegler grocery and dry goods store located on Washington Street. The partnership dissolved in 1927, and he went to work for the First National Bank in Naperville which became the Naperville National Bank in 1934. He retired in 1963 as a First Vice President. In 1931 he was City Treasurer for about two years. He was a Mason and a Shriner, sat on a number of boards as treasurer, helped form the Knife and Fork Club and received a number of civic awards. He was known as a Good Will Ambassador and the Candy Man.
Lorena Louise Wegner came to Naperville in 1915 as a freshman at North Western College (North Central College). Milton (Mil) and Lorena were married on May 29, 1917, in Minneapolis. She belonged to the Women's Club and Goose Club and loved to give parties.
