Bill McHale was born in 1933 in LaGrange, Illinois where he spent his childhood. He joined the Navy in 1952 and served until 1956. He and his wife, Doris, had three children, Kelly, John and Lisa, and moved to Naperville in 1968.
HE was active in the St. Raphael Youth Football Program 1972-1978 and loved Frank Sinatra. "I did it my way" was not onlyhis favorite song but words he ligved by. IN 1972 Bill started his own business and dedicated mch of his time and energy toward making this a success. The company was intially called Telecommunication Deivices Inc. and wa slater changed to TDI Batteries, located in Downers Grove, Illinois.
TDI grew to become one of the world's largest battery pack manufactures by the early 1990's, specialzing in OEM manufacturing for wirelss phones, laptop computers and medical equipment. Bill was CEO until his death from cancer at the oung age of 49. The company was then taken over by the family and sold in 1998 to Thomas & Betts having achieved revenue in excess of $150 million. It was, and still is, a legacy of Bill McHale.
Bill was a lving father and husband, and will be in our memories forever. |
