Fari and Barb Barhamand moved to Lisle in 1979 as newlyweds. In 1983, they moved with their two small boys, Kyle and Joel, to Anne Road in Naperville (formerly known as "Pill Hill" because of the number of physicians who had built homes there in the '60s and '70s), a beautiful street lined with majestic oaks and maples.
They had two more children, Adam and Shana; all four attended, or currently attend, Prairie Elementary School, Washington Junior High, and Naperville North. In 1989, they rebuilt their Anne Road home to accommodate their active family, making the decision to stay in their established neighborhood, close to the center of town.
Fari was born and raised in Bombay, India and attended medical school there. He moved to Chicago for his medical residency at Weiss Hospital, where he met Barb, a native Iowan and nurse. They established his medical practice, the first hematology/oncology practice at Edward Hospital and in Naperville, in 1980. They have enjoyed much satisfaction from living and working in the Naperville community. They have been actively involved with Knox Presbyterian Church, the school district, and many charitable events.
The Barhamands have actively supported community projects, including the initial phases of the Riverwalk and Millenium Carillon. Barb's grandmother, Aileen White, was a cheerful servant of her community and church in Iowa, and a frequent visitor to NapervilJe. She passed away in 1998 at the age of 94. Grandma White exemplified qualities in life that Barb greatly admired, including patience, honesty, faith, and respect for others. She valued education, tradition and the importance of a family heritage. It is in her honor and memory, that the Barhamand family present this Carillon Bell to the Naperville community. Each time it is played, we will remember her, and how her values still "ring true" for each of us.
