 | | Don, Ginny, and Alex Chivas |
Don, Ginny and Alex Chivas have given our bell to ring in loving memory of our wonderful parents, and ancestors.
Ginny's Mom, Marianne Paige Simonson Wolf, was born in Springfield, lllinois. Her ancestors were from Germany and Norway. Marianne graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of lllinois, and worked as the Assistant Manager of the Knickerbocker Hotel in Chicago prior to her marriage to Glenn, on September 30, 1942.
Ginny's Dad, Dr. Glenn Clarence Wolf, was born on a farm in Wheatland Township. His great grandfather, Amos Wolf, came by oxcart from Pennsylvania in the 1840s and was one of the early settlers of Wheatland Township. His mother's parents were married in Germany, and came to Wheatland Township in the 1860s and bought a farm. Carolina and Clarence, Glenn's Mom and Dad, bought a farm on Route 59 in 1916. Glenn graduated from the University of lllinois Medical School, and practiced in Naperville. He was instrumental in helping start Edward Hospital in the early 1950s, and was it's first President in 1957. He formed Wolf Medical Group. In 1960, he and Harold Moser built Naper Plaza.
Don's Mom, Shirley Myers Chivas, was born in Wheatland Township. Her great grandfather was Elias Myers, one of the original Wheatland Township settlers. Her family moved to Naperville and after graduating from North Central College, she was a medical technician until she married Norman Chivas, April 19, 1941.
Don's father Norman Chivas, was born in London, Canada shortly after his parents arrived from Scotland in 1915. His parents migrated from Fraserborough, near Aberdeen, Scotland. They moved to Detroit, and that is where Norm and Shirley met, and where Don was born. They moved to Naperville in 1953 and started Reetwood Sales, a manufacturers representative business in Burr Ridge, of which Don is President.
