In 1955 we came to Naperville to attend North Central College. We graduated in 1959 and were married that same year. Having lived in Aurora for two years, we returned to N.C.C. in 1961. David became the first full time Alumni Director and Assistant Director of Development.
In 1967 he began his career as an agent for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. He just completed 32 years.
1999 celebrates our 40th wedding anniversary and our college graduation. We have seen this city prosper and grow over these years. Our four children were privileged to attend Naperville School Dist. 203 for all of their grade and high school education. Our activities in the community include being active members of Grace United Methodist Church.
Jo Ann has been a choir member for nearly 40 years, and a bell choir member for 18 years. She is a member of the PEO Sisterhood, and an employee of Naperville Public Library since 1986.
David has served on the Board of Directors of the YMCA, president of the Naperville Rotary 1979-80, and a member of the Community Radio Watch and Crime-Stoppers.
The bell is given as a tribute to our parents, our wonderful children and grandchildren, clients and friends. One of our daughters, when hearing of the carillon bell said, "Now we will always have something to come home to."
As we enter the new Millennium, may this Carillon be a symbol to all that see and hear it, of a wonderful place called Naperville where many were privileged and proud to call HOME. |
