Solar Communications' beginnings date back to 1961. John F. Hudetz & Sons, based in Chicago, was known as a premier commercial printer specializing in high quality, four-color work.
By 1972, the company relocated to Naperville, Illinois, and was incorporated as Solar Press, Inc. The seventies and early eighties saw a high demand from direct marketers for specialized products and services. Solar responded by developing its expertise in the fields of printing, packaging and fulfillment and became well known for its card pack capabilities. Offshoots from main products resulted in direct mail promotions, magazine and newspaper inserts, collectible card finishing, flexography, continuity club fulfillment, and CD.
In 1986, Solar established an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) to provide all employees an opportunity to share in the long-term rewards of growth. Solar employees understand the impact they have on our sales, operations and resulting financial position. This type of ownership structure rewards our employees for meeting and exceeding customer expectations.
In 1988, Perryville, Missouri, became the site of an additional operations plant. Between 1989 and 1991, flexography and collectible card packaging facilities were opened in Naperville and Aurora, Illinois. Off site sales offices were opened in Denver, New York, and Paris.
In 1995, we became Solar Communications in order to better reflect our growing capabilities beyond print. Today we also offer Internet and sampling services and average over one million finished packages per day. Solar's objective is to provide our customers with a one stop source for their alternative direct marketing solutions.
Solar's mission is to increase the effectiveness of our customer's direct marketing efforts. |
