Mobile Carillon Coming to Town

For one day, on June 3rd, Naperville will have 2 Carillons!

The Chime Master Mobile Millennium Carillon will arrive in Naperville on Tuesday, June 3, for a series of concerts by local carillonneurs throughout the city.  The day will culminate at the base of Moser Tower with a concert at 7 PM which will include a rare two-carillon duet.

Join the Carillon at The Naperville Children's Museum on Washington St. for any one of three programs at 10AM, 10:30 AM, and 11:00 AM.

Then the Mobile Carillon moves to the Jewel Food Store at 95th Street and Route 59 and can be viewed from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM.

The Mobile Carillon will then be "special guest" at the opening night of our Summer Recital Concert Series, at 7:00 PM at Moser Tower.

The arrival of the carillon will kick off the summer series of carillon recitals at the Millennium Carillon which will be held every Tuesday evening at 7PM during the months of June, July, & August.

The travelling carillon contains 48 bronze bells which were cast by the Royal Eijsbouts Foundry, the same foundry that cast the bells in the Naperville Millennium carillon.  The bells are placed within a weatherproof, illuminated cabin and are played by a traditional clavier.  The weight of the heaviest bell is 2000 lbs as compared to the Big Joe Bell which weighs in at 6 ton.

On February 11, 2008 the Eijsbouts Traveling Carillon, which had toured Europe for the last sixteen years, was re-christened the Chime Master – Eijsbouts Mobile Millennium Carillon and embarked on an ocean voyage to the U.S.A.  It is now owned and managed by Chime Master Systems, a bell and carillon business located in central Ohio.
