Parishes co-sponsor Aug. 24 music event at Millennium Carillon in Naperville
NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Aug. 19, 2008) – Three contemporary Christian artists and choir members from eight local Catholic parishes are scheduled to perform Sunday, Aug. 24, at the Millennium Carillon in Naperville during a free “Praise in the Park” concert open to the public.
From 4 to 7 p.m., singers John Angotti, Jorge Rivera and Aaron Thompson will be performing with band members; carillonneurs Tim Sleep and Sue Bergen also are scheduled to play. The event is expected to draw hundreds.
“Praise in the Park will be a premiere Christian concert event at Naperville’s beautiful Millennium Carillon,” said Robert Frazier, co-director of music and liturgy at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Parish in Naperville, a co-sponsor of the event. “This will be a tour de force program sure to entertain and inspire all ages.”
Individuals and families are invited to bring picnics, snacks and non-alcoholic beverages and folding chairs or blankets for seating. Food and beverages also will be available at the nearby Riverwalk Eatery snack bar. In case of rain, Praise in the Park will be held several blocks west at All Saints Catholic Academy, 1155 Aurora Ave.

“We’re very pleased that the Millennium Carillon was asked to be part of such an inspirational event revolving around music,” said John Colucci, chairman of the Millennium Carillon Foundation and a member of the St. Thomas parish.
Other sponsors are Holy Spirit Catholic Community, St. Elizabeth Catholic Parish, St. Margaret Mary Catholic Parish, Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Parish and the Faith Community of St. Raphael, all of Naperville; St. Joan of Arc Catholic Parish, Lisle; and St. Scholastica Catholic Parish, Woodridge. Also participating is Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Parish, Aurora.
